Battle of the Lip Balms! ♡

April 21, 2014

I have always been a lip balm lover and can never stop buying and trying new ones. That being said I have tried a tonsss of different lip balms in the last 18 years of my life and I thought it would be useful to do a little comparison between memorable ones that I have tried! 🙂
From left to right:
Estee Lauder Lip Conditioner SPF 15, Dior Creme de Rose Lip blam, Chanel Hydramax + Active Nutrition lip care, EOS Strawberry Sorbet lip balm
♡ Estee Lauder Lip Conditioner SPF 15
Moisture: Best one out of the four (I sometimes feel that it acts more like a medicine for your chapped lips than a lip balm because it heals them almost instantly!)
Texture: Thicker than the Chanel and the EOS but not as thick as the Dior
Scent: I think Estee Lauder was aiming for a scentless lip balm but it does smell a little weird/ chemically at first – you will get used to the scent though!
Price: Mid-range – around £11-£13 – significantly pricier than the EOS but less expensive than the Dior and Chanel
I use this: When I have super dry/ cracked lips (always take this on a plane with me) ♡
*The lip balm I am showing in the picture is in a white tube instead of their gorgeous signature gold tube because this is actually a complementary item that you get when you purchase Estee Lauder’s big skincare sets which come around once in a while – if you were to purchase this product on its own it would be in the gold tube! Whatever packaging they come in, they are still the same product and work just as well 🙂
♡ Dior Creme de Rose Lip Balm
Moisture: Second best out of the four (This product in my opinion is actually not THAT moisturising – it would probably take at least several hours of using this to heal any chapped/ extremely dry lips. It is a bit more moisturising than the Chanel and the EOS but is definitely not on par with the Estee Lauder one)
Texture: The thickest out of the four!
Scent: This is my favourite part of this lip balm – this thing simply smells like ROSE PARADISEEE ♡♡♡ I first got this lip balm on a trip to Paris 2 years ago and this constantly reminds me of the smell of rose macaroons ♡
Price: Quite pricy – £20 but it would probably last you up to a year 🙂
I use this: On a daily basis – I don’t have dry lips normally so I don’t actually NEED a lip balm on most days. I however really adore the luxurious feel of using this lip balm and it does help when my lips get a little bit dry for example when I enter a room that has the air-con on ♡
♡ Chanel Hydramax + Active Nutrition lip care
Moisture: Less moisturising than Estee Lauder and Dior but a tinyyy bit more moistursing than the EOS
Texture: Super light! The lightest one out of the four
Scent: It is actually a bit hard to describe this scent – It smells a little bit citrusy but the scent is definitely not too overwhelming. I feel like I don’t love the scent but I don’t hate it either!
Price: At about £30 – This is the most expensive lip balm out of the four – Is it worth that much? Probably not just because I don’t feel that it is anything special. This is a great lip balm to add to my collection because it is very light but I feel that for someone with very dry lips, I would recommend spending an extra £10 to get the La Mer lip balm instead as the La Mer lip balm in my opinion would work a lot better on someone with very dry and chapped lips. I don’t have the La Mer lip balm currently so I am not including it in my battle but I think the quality for that product really justifies the price.
I use this: Mostly in the summer! Since I don’t have dry lips most of the time – I actually prefer using this to the Dior Creme de Rose in the summer just because the texture of this lip balm is a lot lighter and does not feel as heavy on the lips ♡
♡ EOS Strawberry Sorbet lip balm
Moisture: Probably the least moisturising out of the four
Texture: It is definitely lighter than the Estee Lauder and the Dior but not as light as the Chanel
Scent: This actually smells really good!♡ The one I have is in Strawberry Sorbet and smells very fruity and girly 🙂
Price: Least expensive out of the four 🙂 Selfridges sells them for £5.99 but I feel that you can get them for a lot less and in sets a lot of the time if you search for them online.
I use this: Well… When I first got these EOS lip balms (I think I have 4 of them haha) I thought that they were the cutest things ever – but honestly, I don’t actually reach for these lip balms as often as I thought I would because they are just not THAT moisturising. They are more of a cute/ fun thing to play with rather than an actual lip balm that works amazingly, I feel that if this product was packaged in a normal tube rather than an adorable egg shape – I probably wouldn’t have purchased it at all. Well actually, I probably would still have purchased it because this product is 100% natural and USDA-certified organic, but I definitely don’t think I would be as attracted to them if it wasn’t for the egg-shaped packaging ♡

I really like how the EOS ones are shaped! So nice to use. I've been using Dr Lipp lately which is lanolin – a little weird but actually amazing if your lips are really dry 🙂

I am a huge advocate of the EOS lip balms, but Carmex is also amazing. Then, if your lips are really dry, Blistex is an amazing cream that cools your lips down straight away.
I've nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award 🙂
