July was a bit of a strange one. The boyfie and I managed to go out for dinner once before the Hong Kong government announced that all restaurants had to close for dinner in light of a third wave of COVID. Gyms also had to shut down completely so I only had the chance to go once throughout the entire summer.
I ended up spending most of my time at home, but the boyfie and I went on a staycation at the end of July to celebrate our 2-year anniversary and it was pretty amazing! We had booked a staycation package at the Royal Garden Hotel which included dinner for 2 at Sabatini – the renowned Italian restaurant of the hotel.
We checked into a room at the top floor of the hotel (called the “Sky Tower” room) and were instantly wowed by the stunning high ceilings and the gorgeous bathroom.
The boyfriend somehow managed to sneak in a beautiful bouquet of flowers before I arrived *insert heart eyes* 😛
We had a quick tour of our spacious room, before popping back downstairs for our dinner-turned-lunch at Sabatini (due to the government COVID policies).
My mom has been a huge fan of the Italian restaurant ever since it opened its doors in Hong Kong more than 20 years ago.
Rumour has it that the owners of the Royal Garden Hotel loved the food at the original Sabatini restaurant in Rome so much that they paid a great deal of money to invite the chefs to open a branch of the restaurant at their hotel.
It was past dinner-time when a hotel staff showed up at our room with a drool-worthy chocolate cake.
Apparently the boyfie had picked out and ordered the cake at the hotel’s cake shop beforehand and had arranged for the cake to be sent to our room at a much earlier time, but there had been some kind of mix-up with his order.
I was obviously completely oblivious to what was going on LOL.
The hotel manager was kind enough and apologised with a bottle of wine.
I’d say the cake was well worth the wait – it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.
…And all was well with the world again! 😀
Since our room came with a big, beautiful bathtub, we thought it was only fair that we gave it a try.
We woke up the next day feeling so relaxed and was so sad to leave!
It was an amazing staycation and the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary.
Dinner at Sabatini is now high on our to-do list <3
Andddd that was basically it for July! I’m planning to do a round up for August too since a lotttt more had happened last month (more staycations and a fun visit to a factory-turned-art centre).
Will try to catch up with blogposts while I enjoy my very last month of leave before heading back to work in October!
