It took me way longer than expected but I finally managed to sort through the rest of my Singapore pics 😅✌ So here it is – Part II!! I promise Part III is coming (soon!!) 😝 If you haven’t read “Part I – Afternoon Tea at Raffles Hotel, Wedding at the Asian Civilisations Museum, Brunch!” yet, be sure to check it out as I talked about our first few days in Singapore there hehe 😀
Since we had 9 days to spend in Singapore, we had plenty of time to explore the city 😊 I wanted to share all of the spots we went to this time with you guys as we got so many great recommendations for things to do and places to eat:
Marina Bay Sands and Clarke Quay
We made plans to meet up with some of our friends for a meal at Robertson Quay while we were in Singapore and on the day of our meet-up, Peron and I decided to head to Marina Bay Sands for a walk before making our way to Robertson Quay for dinner with our friends.
I didn’t get to take a photo with the Merlion during our last Singapore trip so I was keen to get one this time around – which wasn’t easy at all because the MBS area was completely swamped with tourists like us and the sun was in full blast! 😂🔥
By the time I found a spot for the photo, Peron and I were completely drenched in sweat – but it was well worth it I reckon 😛
As Marina Bay Sands and Robertson Quay looked relatively close to each other on our maps, we decided that we would attempt to walk from MBS to our dinner spot at Robertson Quay under the scorching heat 😝
We saw some iconic landmarks along the way – such as the Fullerton Hotel…
And the colourful Old Hill Street Police Station!
As well as these cute rainbow huts along Clarke Quay 🌈
And we finally made it to Robertson Quay haha! 🙌 We had dinner at a seafood restaurant called Long Beach and ordered the golden style deep fried prawns and crab (i.e. cooked in salted egg yolk) 😋 It was SO good to see our friends as we had not seen them since pre-covid days! 😊
The National Gallery
This was one of my favourite places that we visited in Singapore 😍 The National Gallery is known for its stunning architecture and large collection of Singapore and Southeast Asian modern art and it did not disappoint!
The gallery is made up of the old Supreme Court Building of Singapore as well as the City Hall which have been restored to their former glory.
Peron and I got our tickets from the entrance of the gallery (they were SGD 20 per person but free for locals) and off we went to explore around! 😊
We walked by lots of beautiful hallways and reached the iconic Rotunda Library. We were really hoping to take a look inside but it was unfortunately closed (we didn’t realise its opening hours vary from day to day!) 😞
If you are ever planning to visit the National Gallery, I highly suggest that you check the opening times of the Rotunda Library before you make the trip!
All in all, we really enjoyed the gallery (especially its architecture and some of its beautiful artwork) and found it very comfortable to walk around (not going to lie – the strong AC felt amazing after we had been out in the Singapore heat and we did not want to leave! 😂)
Before we left, we decided to head to the rooftop of the National Gallery which offers some of the most spectacular panoramic views of Singapore and is also where you can find Smoke & Mirrors, a super popular cocktail bar for tourists and locals alike!
Smoke & Mirrors was sadly closed for a private event on the day so we didn’t get to try their drinks, but I did get a photo there with the Marina Bay Sands behind me 💘
Bacha Coffee
Our serviced apartment was really close to the ION Orchard shopping mall, so we ended up going to the mall quite often. We would always see long queues outside Bacha Coffee at the ION Orchard whenever we walked pass so one afternoon, we decided that we would give it a try ourselves to see if it could live up to its hype!
We arrived Bacha Coffee shortly before 6 p.m. on a Wednesday to queue and waited for around half an hour before we were seated.
And we ordered some mini croissants (chocolate & coffee and kaya 😋) and hot chocolate!
Our conclusion: it was SO GOOD! 💗 The interior of the Bacha Coffee café was beautiful and I loved the chocolate & coffee croissant (even better than the kaya croissant in my humble opinion!) and the hot chocolate 😍
All the goodies sold at Bacha Coffee were also really nicely packaged and I thought they would make for awesome gifts, so we picked up some souvenirs for our colleagues and friends while we were there! 🎉
Chinatown
I don’t think we hit up Chinatown when we were last in Singapore, and we weren’t planning to visit until we met up with our friends for a meal there and thought we would take the opportunity to explore the area. And I am so glad we did!
Chinatown had some pretty dark history… 😲
But is now turned into a tourist spot with cute shops all around – such as this Tintin Shop!
We made our way to the Ann Siang Hill and Club Street area where we saw lots of bars and restaurants…
And arrived at Birds of a Feather at Amoy Street – our dinner spot! Birds of a Feather serves modern Sichuan food and while some of the dishes can be quite spicy, everything we ordered was delicious and the ambience was great 😍 A perfect place to catch up with friends 😊
I will be posting Part 3 next week (watch out for more sightseeing spots and lots of F 🍩 🍪 D)! 😛
