I went to Boots a few days ago thinking I would kill some time browsing/ window-shopping before it was time for my dinner date but I should have known that the moment I step foot into Boots it won’t be just browsing and window-shopping 😛 I ended up walking out the door with a perfect contouring combo – the Sleek Face Contour Kit in Light and the Real Techniques Bold Metals 301 Flat Contour brush ♡
The Sleek Face Contour Kit has been on my makeup shopping list for quite a while and I am so glad to have finally swatched it in store and picked it up 🙂 I really like the contour shade of this palette (which is actually showing up a tiny bit more warm-tone in the photo than in real life) because I have been contouring with my Benefit Hoola bronzer for the longest time and have just found out recently that you are not supposed to contour with a bronzer because bronzers usually have very warm tones that do not reflect the shade/ colour of how a shadow would look on your face (Jordan Liberty’s YouTube video Why You Shouldn’t Contour with Bronzer does an amazing job explaining this ♡) This contour shade is extremely pigmented and a little goes a long way. I also find that it stays on my face for quite a long time. The highlight shade of this kit I like but I don’t love – it shows up on my skin as more of like a gold sheen. It does a good job highlighting my face but I don’t think this is my favourite highlighter ever 🙂 I definitely prefer my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick or my Benefit High Beam over this for highlighting ♡
The Real Technique Bold Metals brushes have gotten so much hype over the past few months that I was quite excited to try them out for myself. Since I was in search for a contour brush and I mentioned in my Must-Have Makeup Brushes post that I want to try out some non-MAC makeup brushes, I thought I would give the Real Techniques Bold Metals 301 Flat Contour brush a try. This is definitely not the cheapest makeup brush out there, especially since it is technically a Real Techniques brush sold in Boots in the MAC price range. However from what I know, the Bold Metals brushes are weighted premium brushes developed by the Pixiwoo sisters for Real Techniques, and are supposed to be a lot better quality than the normal Real Techniques brushes. The first thing I noticed about this brush is the beautiful packaging ♡ The rose gold handle is gorgeous and the brush is definitely heavier than all of my MAC brushes. Another thing I noticed is that the bristles on this brush are incredibly dense, which might also be why a little of the Sleek contour powder goes a longgg way when I am using this brush to apply it because the bristles pick up a lot of product. I am actually really happy with how well this brush works and although I still prefer how my MAC brushes feel over this particular brush, I would recommend this brush to anyone and the rose gold packaging is honestly unbeatable <3
Here is a swatch of how the Sleek contour shade compares to Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer 🙂 Hoola is definitely a lighter shade than the Sleek contour powder and I also find it to be less pigmented ♡ I still love my Hoola bronzer though but it will strictly be for bronzing only from now on 🙂

I love the look of those brushes so much but I haven't been able to justify them to myself (yet!) and the palette is something which I've had my eye on once I finish my Bourjois Delice De Poudre Duo! Have a great weekend 🙂

I've had my eyes on the Bourjois duo palette for a while as well but settled for the Sleek one 😀 I'm not sure if the price can be justified for all the Bold Metals brushes but the one I tried is worth it imo 🙂 xx

I definitely think the Sleek contour kit is a top contestant for drugstore contouring kits 🙂 I was seriously contemplating getting the Smashbox contouring palette but I just couldn't justify the price when I know there are so many other amazing quality contour kits (like the Sleek one) for a fraction of the price 🙂 xx
